How it all started
Ismay and Marijke met during their midwifery bachelor. They quickly discovered a shared vision of care: obstetric care should go beyond only the medical aspect, offering personal attention and genuine compassion. Ismay and Marijke wanted not only to provide quality care but also truly wanted to be there for women and their partners during one of the most significant stages of their lives.
After gaining years of experience in various practices, Ismay and Marijke decided it was time to make their dream a reality. They envisioned a midwifery practice where all facets of obstetric care and ultrasound services could come together: all in one place and all within one dedicated team. A place where women and their partners would feel truly at home. This vision led to the founding of Geboortecentrum Zaanstad. From the very start, they were clear: this practice would be different. No hierarchy, no sense of distance - just a warm, homely atmosphere where everyone feels welcome.

Since opening in 2019, Geboortecentrum Zaanstad has become a trusted place for expectant parents in the region. Ismay and Marijke have brought together a team that shares their vision: providing compassionate care that respects each woman’s unique needs and preferences.
