My name is Samira Mijnen. I am born and raised in Krommenie. From a young age I already knew I
wanted to do something in the medical sector later, but I did not yet know in what branch exactly. Only just before entering my last year in high school, my mom came to me with the idea of becoming a midwife. After reading about I was really excited. I was able to join a midwife on a workday, and, with a lot of luck, I got to see a delivery that same day. When coming home the first thing I said to my parents was “I am going to be a midwife!”. And now the time is finally there. I can finally call myself a midwife.
The most beautifull part about being a midwife is the chance to guide women and their partners in a very special period in their lives. Also the variety in the workday makes it exciting. You never know what a day is going to bring, it’s always a suprise, and that’s what makes it so much fun!
