From the first contraction until the end of the baby’s first week
Your childbirth is a milestone full of emotions and primal strength. What if you could approach this special moment with confidence? Then you’re likely to look back on this moment with a sense of fulfilment. That’s what we’re aiming for together! If you have any questions, you can reach us 24/7.

Your childbirth, Your choices
Would you prefer to give birth at home or in the hospital? In a birthing pool, on a birthing stool, or in bed? With or without pain relief? We listen carefully to your preferences and discuss everything in advance to create a realistic birth plan that suits you. As an extra service, we’re hiring TENS machines (for pain relief during delivery) and birthing pools. We supervise both home and hospital births and often stay earlier and longer during labour than you might expect from obstetric care professionals and longer than what's usual, depending on your situation and your needs.
Our role as midwives
From the very first contraction, we’re here for you throughout your birth journey. We start by visiting you at home, regardless where you plan to give birth. We stay by your side as much as possible. Want to give birth at home? We’ll bring our medical equipment and assist you there. Prefer to give birth in the hospital? We’ll supervise you there too. As long as everything is progressing smoothly, we’ll be your primary care provider throughout your delivery, taking care that it goes according to your preferences and monitor the medical health of you and your baby. And ofcourse, provide you all the care and attention you need. If any complications arise that require medical care from the gynaecologist, we ensure a seamless handover. Where possible, we’ll continue to support you. Together, we aim for a positive birth experience.
Information session
Every month, we organise a Dutch spoken information session where you can learn all about what to expect in the later stages of pregnancy and during labour. We discuss topics like what a contraction is, the different birthing positions, pain management options and where you can give birth. Do you have questions or concerns? During these sessions, feel free to ask anything you want. Join us for a Dutch spoken information session to feel well-prepared. Curious about the next date or looking for an English-language course? Ask our assistant or one of us during your next midwifery appointment.
Postpartum Care and recovery
After childbirth, the postpartum period begins—a time for recovery and getting to know your baby. We’ll visit you at home several times to check in on how you’re both doing. We also provide medical advice and guidance. We work closely with your maternity care (“kraamzorg”), who offer daily care and support. We take on the medical responsibility, overseeing everything to ensure all goes smoothly. As always, you can reach us 24/7 for advice and help, so you can feel confident as you settle into your new role as a parent.
